D. Examination Committee – Standing Committee

Bylaws, Article VI, Section 2:The Examination Committee shall oversee the development and execution of certification examinations. The Examination Committee is responsible for developing the specific subject matter that should be included in a certification exam and for obtaining concurrence of the criteria with the Certification Committee. The certification subject matter will be defined and communicated to individuals seeking certification through the "Competency Framework for Environmental, Health and Safety Auditors". The Examination Committee is also responsible for developing appropriate security over the development and retention of all examinations; for recommending appropriate security measures for examination sessions; and for establishing grading criteria for all examinations and for ensuring that the criteria are observed. The Committee shall document all critical aspects of examination development and execution described above.

General

  • Mission - A Committee appointed by the Board to plan, develop and manage a program through which examinations are administered in support of the BEAC CPEA certification programs.
  • Structure:
    • The Committee is comprised of six to ten CPEAs who are highly skilled in the specialties to which they are assigned tasks within the Committee.
    • One member of the Committee shall be approved by the Board to serve as the Chair for a term typically not to exceed two years. A Vice Chair shall be nominated by the Chair and approved by the Board with the expectation, but not the requirement, that he or she will become the next Chair.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Develop policies and procedures for administration of the BEAC CPEA examinations and obtain concurrence of the Board of Directors.
    • Develop examinations to test the knowledge of candidates for certification in accordance with criteria established with concurrence of the Certification Committee.
    • Develop and maintain procedures to ensure the security and technical quality of examination materials.
    • Proctor examinations.
    • Develop criteria for grading examinations.
    • Grade certification examinations.
    • Develop and provide guidance to candidates for certification to help them prepare for examinations
    • Ensure that the Competency Framework for Environmental, Health and Safety Auditors is current and reflects BEAC policy and currently best practices. The framework is maintained on the BEAC website
